Mike Amidei, Beverage Manager, Tørst / Luksus

Mike is more of an English football fan, but when the Super Bowl is on he’s be watching with an Evil Twin Sour Bikini...a great low alcohol beer for a long game!

Mike Amidei came by his passion for the world of beverages honestly. Mike's father (a life long lover of all things food & beverage) bought a bottle of each of the Bordeaux First Growth wines for the year Mike was born and on his 21st birthday the family opened, and shared, a bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild. From there, he was hooked. Mike received his BS from Florida International University in Hotel & Restaurant Management and has held nearly every position on offer in that field from bus boy to line cook to hotel management. Mike has been passionate about beer, and all of it's distinct styles & flavors for longer than he'd care publish. He is currently the Beverage Manager at Tørst / Luksus, the global beer destination and Michelin-starred Restaurant in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where he is responsible for curating the 21 rotating draft lines and an extensive bottle menu of around around 200 beers.

Alexander LaPratt, Master Sommelier

When the game is on Alex’s go to brew is the incredible Bell’s Two Hearted Ale from his home state of Michigan!

Alexander LaPratt's passion has taken him around the country, and he has worked the floor for some of the finest restaurants, including Michael Mina, The French Laundry, Daniel, Atera, Le Bernardin, and Jean-Georges. In 2013, Alexander put to the test an entire career’s worth of knowledge when he opened his own restaurant, Atrium DUMBO, in the posh neighborhood of DUMBO, Brooklyn. The restaurant has been met with rave reviews and just celebrated its two-year anniversary. He is currently preparing to open his next concept in early 2016!

He also had the rare pleasure of passing his Master Sommelier exam in 2014.  

Andy Myers, Master Sommelier

When the game’s on, one of Andy’s go-to brews is DC Brau ‘The Public’ Ale.

Andy Myers has been in restaurants for the last 26 years; apparently he's hooked. He found his love of wine when working at the Inn at Little Washington and never looked back. At this moment he is the Wine Director for Jose Andres's ThinkFoodGroup. He is covered in tattoos, practices yoga, plays drums in the heavy metal band 'fuchida' and spends all of his extra cash scuba diving any and everywhere he can with his wife. 

He doesn't like it when you mispronounce his title and call him a “Somalia”, but finds it funny when you call him a “Smelly-Air.” He's a freak for German Riesling, but he will drink great Burgundy if you let him.

Oh yeah, he passed the Master Sommelier exam in May of 2014. If asked he would tell you that the experience was awesome.

Jason Tesauro, Award-Winning Booze Writer

When the game’s on, this Jersey-born Virginian gets down with Hardywood’s Singel for HOME games and Carton Brewing’s 077XX when he’s AWAY.

Five kids, three books, two national magazine awards and one helluva ride so far. By day, Tesauro served for over a decade under winemaker Luca Paschina at Barboursville Vineyards to spread the word of Virginia wine and local bounty. By night, he co-authored The MODERN GENTLEMAN: A Guide to Essential Manners, Savvy & Vice and contributed wine/beer/spirits/food/travel/style/writing to The New York Times, Details, Travel+Leisure, Men's Health and Maxim.

He attended Super Bowl XLI in 2007,  founded Craft Brew Bowl I in 2013 and discovered the Great American Beer Festival in 2015.

Kristel Poole, Beer Writer & Consultant

A lifelong sports fan (including her fantasy team–the Tittsburg Feelers), Kristel’s superstitions lead her to choose game-day brews from her team’s ‘hood. Otherwise, she is probably drinking a Hardywood Park Bourbon Cru.

Kristel Poole earned her degree in English and Studio Art from the University of Virginia. It was there, in Charlottesville, VA, that she was seduced by the world of craft beer, wine and spirits, and that her passion for food and cooking was sparked. Kristel works as a food and beverage stylist, photographer, food and lifestyle writer, and recipe developer. She has been published in at least 8 countries worldwide and has had the pleasure of judging cocktail categories in competitions. Kristel often works with restaurants to redefine wine/beer menu selections as well as rebrand their marketing presence; her web and graphic design work can be found throughout the region.
